A.P. being endowed with diversified agro- climatic conditions has helped for production of various horticulture crops. Horticulture sector has been identified as one of the growth engines for increasing over all agriculture growth. Rastriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) aims at achieving 4% annual growth in the agriculture sector by ensuring a holistic development of Agriculture and allied sectors. There is ample scope for development of Horticulture in the state with varied agro climatic conditions and diversified practices which enable the farmers to go for development of diversified horticulture activities
Department of Horticulture under RKVY – RAFTAAR programme has implemented the component of promotion and strengthening of FARMER PRODUCER ORGANIZATIONS (FPOs) from 2018-19 to 2020-21 with the following objectives,
Under this component, with the approval of Government & SLSC, under RKVY, Department has promoted 100 FPOs as per GoI / SFAC guidelines through 7 Professional Agencies as Cluster Based Business Organizations (CBBOs) i.e., Grant Thornton India LLP(GT), Price Waterhouse Coopers Pvt. Ltd. (PWC), MahilaAbhivruddhi Society, Andhra Pradesh (APMAS), International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA), Indian Grameen Services (IGS),BhartiyaSamruddhi Investments and consulting Services Ltd. (BASICS) and India Foundation for Humanistic Development(IFHD). Department has also supported 163 FPOs promoted by NABARD, SERP etc.; which are predominantly Horticulture based for establishment of Post-Harvest Infrastructure.
The FPOs will be supported for strengthening the Post-Harvest Infrastructure Development with 75% subsidy up to maximum of Rs.1.00 crore per FPO for the components like Integrated Pack houses, Collection centers, Ripening chambers, Cold rooms, retail out lets, transport vehicles etc.; Further, the extension services on crop planning, Pre-harvest & Post-harvest including marketing tie up, value addition and primary processing will also be provided by the Department to these FPOs.
