  A.P. being endowed with diversified agro- climatic conditions has helped for production of various horticulture crops. Horticulture sector has been identified

  as one of the growth engines for increasing over all agriculture growth. Rastriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) aims at achieving 4% annual growth in the

  agriculture sector by ensuring a holistic development of Agriculture and allied sectors. There is ample scope for development of Horticulture in the state

  with varied agro climatic conditions and diversified practices which enable the farmers to go for development of diversified horticulture activities

RKVY PROGRAMMES

RKVY - PROGRAMMES

• • Production and distribution of good quality plant material to meet the requirement for bringing new area under fruit plantation.


• • Improvement of production and distribution of good quality hybrid vegetable seed / raising of vegetable seedlings under shade net nurseries to ensure availability of vegetables throughout the year and improvement of nutritional standards in rural areas.


• • Encouragement of structures like Pandals and Trellis for quality production in case of creeper vegetables like Gourds and Tomato.


• • Encouragement of nurseries for cultivation of offseason / high value vegetables in Shade net houses.


• • Encouragement of Post-Harvest Management Infrastructure like Collection Centers, Solar Cold Rooms, Ripening chambers, Integrated Pack Houses etc.

FARMERS PRODUCERS ORGANIZATIONS

  Department of Horticulture under RKVY – RAFTAAR programme has implemented the component of promotion and strengthening of FARMER PRODUCER   ORGANIZATIONS (FPOs) from 2018-19 to 2020-21 with the following objectives,

•   ■To bring together the farmers to form into FPOs as business start-ups in the state through strengthening on-going efforts of the line departments, NGOs     and other agencies by developing necessary support systems.


•   ■Providing handholding support for improving the productivity through effective extension services, suitable technologies and knowledge systems.


•   ■Facilitating infrastructure facilities for improved efficiency in production systems and cost reduction by way of supply of inputs to the member     farmers,collection and aggregation of produce, collective marketing for better remunerative prices.


•   ■Promoting a business model for generating higher incomes through public private partnership.

  Under this component, with the approval of Government & SLSC, under RKVY, Department has promoted 100 FPOs as per GoI / SFAC guidelines through 7   Professional Agencies as Cluster Based Business Organizations (CBBOs) i.e., Grant Thornton India LLP(GT), Price Waterhouse Coopers Pvt. Ltd. (PWC),   MahilaAbhivruddhi Society, Andhra Pradesh (APMAS), International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA), Indian Grameen Services   (IGS),BhartiyaSamruddhi Investments and consulting Services Ltd. (BASICS) and India Foundation for Humanistic Development(IFHD). Department has also   supported 163 FPOs promoted by NABARD, SERP etc.; which are predominantly Horticulture based for establishment of Post-Harvest Infrastructure.

  The FPOs will be supported for strengthening the Post-Harvest Infrastructure Development with 75% subsidy up to maximum of Rs.1.00 crore per FPO for   the components like Integrated Pack houses, Collection centers, Ripening chambers, Cold rooms, retail out lets, transport vehicles etc.; Further, the   extension services on crop planning, Pre-harvest & Post-harvest including marketing tie up, value addition and primary processing will also be provided by   the Department to these FPOs.

•   ■Department registered 100 FPOs.


•   ■In 100 FPOs, 39544 farmers enrolled in an extent 99400.31 Ha.


•   ■Major crops in the FPOs are Turmeric, Banana, Mango, Sweet orange, Flowers, Chilli, Coconut and Vegetables etc.,


•   ■Also supported 163 Horticulture FPOs registered by SERP / NABARD etc., by providing subsidy to the Post Harvest Management Infrastructure like     Collection Centers, Pack Houses and Solar Cold Rooms etc., on 75% subsidy to 263 FPOs (100+163) with 1.63 lakh farmers & 2.22 lakh Ha area covered.


•   ■The Department is providing required support to the FPOs on Technical Know How, on Good Horticulture Practices, Crop planning, Post-Harvest     Management and value chain development, through District Horticulture Officers. Also providing support for getting required Licenses to the FPOs.
